November 30
We are excited to invite Africa-based fintech startups to apply and launch fintech apps on Rehive! If you are working on a fintech project and looking for a production-ready solution, you have come to the right place. Whether you are looking to launch quickly, pitch investors to raise funding, or demo to partner banks - we are here to help.
We are offering a 12-month Premium subscription discount for successful fintechs applicants based in Africa. This includes full white-label fintech apps for iOS, Android and web - as well as access to a white-label software license to make source code level customizations on the apps if needed.
This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. We can help you save 6+ months in development time and over $250K in upfront development costs to launch your product. We have been building Rehive since 2016 and developed a well-rounded stack to help you focus on bank partners, marketing and your customers, instead of building everything from scratch.
Applications are open on a running basis. Apply here. [T&Cs]

Try the demos or create a sandbox project to learn how the apps work.
Why is neobanking in Africa so behind
Out of the 500+ leading neobanks globally, less than 25 are based in Africa. A big reason for that is the lagging development in banking-as-a-service infrastructure. Companies like Revolut, Monzo, etc. were able to build on infrastructure partners that take care of compliance, custody and licensing, on/off ramps, brokerage services, and more. Secondly, fintechs in developed markets raised significant funding to build their own end-to-end applications on top of infrastructure providers.
Unfortunately, fintech startups in Africa face a chicken-and-egg problem: banks want to see example applications and MVPs before even engaging in a conversation to rent their license, while fintechs need a bank partner before investing resources to build products. Building a financial or banking application is expensive and local talent has already been swept up by incumbents or works for international fintechs earning a very competitive salary. As a result, it is hard to get to the MVP stage and have a foot in the door.
How Rehive can help
Our goal is to help fintechs get a head start. We are offering a 12-month Premium subscription discount which will help fintechs set up demos to talk to banks and local partners. In our experience, it takes at least 3 to 6 months to work with banks and do integrations. By lifting our Premium subscription fee, fintechs in Africa don’t have to worry about starting costs while benefiting from the full solution.
As a fintech, you can make money with Rehive by charging fees on currency conversions, merchant payment processing, and mass payouts. Rehive is highly extendable by building on the APIs.
Rehive’s Premium subscription includes the following:
- White-label Web App codebase access*
- White-label iOS App codebase access*
- Onboarding and training session
What app features are supported
Rehive’s white-label features are similar to Cash App: send and request payments, in-app purchases, point-of-sale payments, currency conversions, invoicing, online checkout, referral rewards, mass payouts and more.
The solution supports both individuals and businesses. The white-label apps are available on iOS, Android and web.
Is it possible to do app customizations
Yes, it is possible to customize the frontend applications and build extensions on the Rehive Platform. As part of the Premium subscription, you get access to the white-label software license for the frontend applications that are built in React and React Native. Our APIs are open and well-documented when building your own extensions.
The Premium subscription excludes access to any backend software and the admin dashboard.
What about integrations
Building a fintech application typically requires integrations with third-party providers. Every region has different providers, which means we leave integration for you.
It is possible to set up a demo on Rehive without doing any integrations upfront, but ultimately you will need to partner and integrate with a bank to go into production on scale. Rehive does not provide integration services, but we can introduce you to integration partners if you do not have your own integration engineering team.
Checkout our documentation to help you get started.
Typically, you need to do the following integrations for a production-ready solution:
- Compliance
- Custody
- On ramps
- Off ramps
- Brokerage
That being said, we do have an integration with Wyre that takes care of the primary requirements, but it might not be a fit for all fintechs in Africa. The benefit of using Wyre is that you can go to market really quickly and add further integrations later on. Keep these limitations in mind:
- You have to confirm that your region is supported by Wyre.
- Only cryptocurrencies are supported outside of the US.
- Wyre does not have local on-ramps and off-ramps, other than debit cards.
What do you need to do
Rehive specializes in the application layer of the fintech stack. At the core, we have a ledger, user and authentication system. On top of that, we have the white-label applications and extension framework.
Everything else you have to do. Here is a detailed white-label checklist and go-live requirements.
Application criteria
The following criteria will apply
- Full-time commitment from founders.
- The founding team should have valid citizenship in a target country within Africa.
- Maximum 2 target regions within Africa.
We are reviewing applications on a running basis and will let you know within 10 business days if you have been selected for an interview or not. After the interview, we will let you know within 3 business days whether you have been selected for the program or not.
Review full terms and conditions to qualify for the discount. Rehive reserves the right to update any terms as needed.
